Oh my goodness! What a refreshing read as I begin my day. I have 9 children and everything you said resonates me. I think I’m going to stop asking other moms how they get it all done and instead ask, “how do you decide what to drop from your schedule?” Thank you for writing!
Oh my goodness. I relate to all of this, although my boys have not (yet) asked for honey with their grasshoppers 😂 It’s absolutely the type of request that I would be annoyed by until the reason came out. I know what you mean though — people think you do it all and yet I often feel that nothing gets done. I do a lot of praying that the right things get done, and try to use the time as well as I can, but most days my energy is gone before the list is through.
Haha...they might! It just takes one kid to get the idea. There are so many unexpected challenges with each day it seems when you have multiple little ones and you never know which kid is going to need extra help with something or have a meltdown at the worst time. So yeah, a lot of it comes down to prayer.
Beautiful words. Your thoughts here actually remind me of what Jesus taught—it’s a phrase that I ponder on a lot: *only one thing is needful.* I try to remember that when I feel like I can’t get everything done.
I love it! We've had plenty of grasshopper snacks at our place, too. In fact, one whole insect fieldtrip turned into a grasshopper feast thanks to non-squeamish homeschool friends.
Lovely thoughts & so encouraging. I'm so thankful that the Lord fills our days with good work for us to do. Some old friends of mine like to point out that fruit is heavy on the vine, but the thing is, branches grow stronger to accommodate the weight. In seeking fruitfulness we're asking for more work, yet the work we're called to is loving our people, and in that is so much joy.
I love your very boy mom response: “But wait! Put some on a spoon, don’t bring the whole jar out!”
Haha. I think I must say a lot of "boy mom" things.
I’m there with you. Mom of five boys, no girls here :)
So funny!
I thought so! Thanks for reading.
I was laughing aloud!

Thanks Shannon! Yes, that is a great reminder.

Haha I can picture that happening!

It really is good work. That's a beautiful way to think about it, what your friend says about the fruit on the vine.
Thanks for reading, I'm glad it was helpful. :)
Good thing they didn’t find a camel…
