That's really cool, Shannon! I hope someday (when I'm less overwhelmed in the grocery store) to be the kind of person who notices a mom with littles, and can offer a kind comment or a pizza 😀.

I haven't always loved to cook, but I'm learning to see giving food as an important ministry. Like you said, an "I see you."

Even if it's watching a friend's kids and making them buttered pasta or making sure to have snacks for them, or dropping off a meal to a sick friend or new mom, or inviting a friend to dinner. It doesn't have to be fancy to show love and care.

And everybody eats!

I babysat someone's kids once as a last-minute thing and I was scrambling to throw together something for lunch. I think I eventually found a box of pasta. After that day I decided to buy pasta in bulk and now I feel like I'm ready to feed the masses (especially for kids, what kid doesn't love buttered pasta?)

Our church organized a MealTrain for moms w babies or those sick/recovering. It was a huge blessing and I try to continue it.

That's great- I think it's so important for churches to do that. It's a way we can serve outside of Sunday morning. My church organized a week's worth of meals after the baby I just had, and it was so helpful!

Meal trains are such a blessing. Costco prepared meals are my go-to when I want to contribute to a meal train and haven't made the time to cook for it (or just had a baby myself 😅).

They really are. I try to remind myself that if I don’t have the energy/time to cook, prepared meals from the store are still appreciated! I’ve been given some of those and they’re great.

I’ve have been given, and I hope gifted, many times of this gift over the years, especially when I was a single mother… food is so good.

Love this so much. Years ago I was in Costco with all of my young children (which doesn’t happen anymore now that my oldest is 14 and can babysit while I shop!) and an older man bought us a whole pizza for lunch. It was such a small, simple, gesture, and yet—I will never forget it.

Beautiful, heartfelt post as always!

I too have been blessed with so many meals from friends. Most recently when I broke my ribs last year. One friend made homemade soup, sandwiches and made me an Easter Basket and the gift of a beautiful teacup and saucer.

Thanks for reading! And I remember that, that was really cool the way she put those gifts together.
